“Ba memories, got loads of them absolutely hundreds, but one that sticks out is me and my good friend Ross Linklater. It was the day that Ross actually won his Ba’ and I was fortunate enough, I got my Ba’ before him so I knew the feeling to win it, you can’t bottle it, you can’t even tell what it feels like. We were at the corner and it ended up just the two of us, this is a corny thing to say but it was like the most magical thing, just the two of us, two friends, his Ba’ and we just sat in the corner. I think we were both in floods. Basically, everybody else is waiting for us at the pub but we just sat there and took it all in.
Me, Ross and Andrew Currie have met up for 30 years now before we go to the game. Same tradition, we head down together. I go by Ross’s every Christmas day, and New Year’s Day and we get boots on, shin guards on, get taped up, have a quick dram and then head down the road. Probably still manage to do it for a few years yet, have done it since I was sixteen or seventeen, that would be thirty-six years I have been doing it.”
